TRIBUTE TO PASTOR NORRIL M. GUMBS

Jun 20, 2025 | Tributes | 0 comments

My Husband and I came to Montserrat in 1988 after he took up a job opportunity here. I first met Pastor Gumbs at a crusade at his church in Parsons, Montserrat. I was invited by Sister Gumbs after having met her through a crusade/outreach around Dagenham and I took the opportunity to attend. I subsequently started attending church on Sundays and eventually got involved in other church activities.
We eventually became close family as though we knew each other from long. Even during the hurricane and volcano crises, Pastor and Sister Gumbs was always there as a source of inspiration for his church family. Our children practically grew up in the church.
After we were displaced during the volcano crises, church was still held regularly on a Sunday morning, until they eventually left the island and relocated to Anguilla. Even there, we were in touch by phone. I was in shock when I got the news that he had passed.
On behalf of myself and family, especially Luann and Calvin, we extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to Sister Gumbs and Family. I pray that God will give you the strength to carry on during this time of grieve. I still cannot comprehend that he is gone. May he rest in eternal peace with the Lord.
Love from Sister Esther Lewis and Family.
