I remember with deep interest and respect, the life and legacy of Pastor Norrill Gumbs. I first came in contact with Pastor Gumbs when he was expanding the Calvary Baptiste Church in Montserrat and he was the first person outside of my family to pay me, a young impressionable 10 year old, ten EC dollars to assist him and his sons move a number of building blocks into the ongoing construction of the upstairs addition of his church in Parsons. Back then ten EC dollars was considered a good sum of money. Pastor Gumbs was a pillar of faith, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his congregation and the Montserrat community. His gentle spirit, wise counsel, and steadfast devotion touched countless lives, as he offered comfort, guidance, and hope to all who knew him.
Pastor Gumbs dedicated his life to serving God and uplifting others, always leading by example with humility, integrity, and love. Whether from the pulpit or in personal moments of care, he inspired faith and unity, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
As we mourn his passing, we celebrate the significant impact of his ministry and the legacy of kindness and faith he leaves behind. May his memory continue to inspire us to live with compassion and purpose, just as he did every day. To his wife Eunice and children, Phillip, Curtis, Wilson, Evette and Walsh I extend sincere condolences. Rest in peace, Pastor Gumbs. Your light will never be forgotten. Mackie
