Pastor Norril Gumbs was a man who deeply loved God and people. Nothing was ever too much for him to do for someone in need. No distance was too far for him to travel if it meant being a blessing to another. Nothing was ever too good or too precious for him to share.

As a young man, after completing his education, he went straight into the service of the Lord. The people of Montserrat were fortunate to have him serve there in God’s work.  They became his extended family; they loved him dearly, and he loved them in return. Circumstances of nature changed his physical location, but it didn’t change his heart or his calling.  Pastor Gumbs had a heart for people. He continued his ministry after moving to Anguilla, faithfully doing what he loved most: preaching the Word of God.

Pastor Gumbs served on the board of Blue Water Bible College for decades. There was never a West Indies Baptist Fellowship Conference (WIBFC) he would miss, as long as he was well enough to attend. His commitment to the Lord’s work was unwavering—he was determined to serve until his very last breath. And so, he did.

We thank the Lord for the gift of Pastor Norril Gumbs. On behalf of all of us associated with WIBFC, we want to assure his family that we are praying for you. Though Pastor Gumbs is no longer with us in body, we rejoice knowing that he is now present with the Lord. He is now experiencing what he preached about for decades — how beautiful Heaven must be.
